How did you use your own unique ideas in your work? This piece of art, to my knowledge, is 100% original and my idea. I took the idea of time and used it as a barrier in one piece. With one side weathered, old, and with the imprinted letters of TIME scattered through the paper, representing the scarred remains of the paper that remained after the crushing blows of time destroyed it. Did you use a source for inspiration, then combine it with your own ideas to make it original? I used themes from the real-world and used them for my inspiration to make this piece. Did you try something that you weren’t sure about as part of this project? Using a new medium and weathering technique, using coffee beans and a blow dryer in order to create the withered and torn look of the paper. Was never sure if it would turn out the way i had hoped but i think it ended up pretty good. Did you pick a material or technique that was new or different over something that was familiar? The coffee and dryer technique i used was unfamiliar and completely new to me. |
Did you learn new techniques or processes as part of the work for this project? Yes, blending and using skills techniques found from my own research and help from computer art with photoshop and cameras. Did you gain skill with familiar materials? Yes, using the media available to me helped me develop my skill and will help me with future projects. Did you find inspiration from another artist or culture? Yes, specifically banksy, the way he makes tangible real-world art that everyone can relate to. I took a different spin on the same approach and took those real-world artistic themes and put them into one, unified image bringing all of these ideas to one place. Did you use technology as a tool? I used photoshop and some photos and combined them into one jpeg image. Did you participate as an art community member? In my table and through out of school activities i participated in the art community and through this image. |
If given the opportunity, which project would you do over? Definitely the cougar project, i know i could have done a better job with that medium but had time restraints. Using a different medium and using paper and hand-made materials would have resulted in an overall more appealing and more accurate representation of my original inspiration in this piece of art. |
